This is Musings of a Bookish Historian, a newsletter about history and books! I started this blog a year or so ago, but it’s existed in one form or another since I first learned WordPress in 2010. I had studied abroad at Lancaster University in northwestern England and wanted a way to share my experiences. I eventually shuttered My Life is History and decided to re-brand as The Bookish Historian. I’m excited to share this journey with you!
So, I’m sure you’re wondering…what the heck is Musings of a Bookish Historian even about?
In short, it’s about history, books, and the intersection between the two. But, it’s even more than that. I want it to be a place for learning and creative expression. The benefit of using Substack as opposed to WordPress is that I honestly feel less pressured to adhere to SEO standards that often bog down the writing process. This platform will allow me to be a little more spontaneous in writing, something I’ve really been wanting.
Here is a preview of what I’m anticipating Musings will cover:
Book/movie/show recommendations
Historical facts or research/resources I’ve found
Tips and tricks, perhaps, for writing effective blog articles
Travel
My plan is to post weekly, depending on time and schedule. I hope you look forward to this journey with me as I get started!
